Link Party at Our Simple Country Life

Today I am joining Ester over at Our Simple Country Life for her Country Porch Friends link party.

Hi there.  My name is Carol.  I am married to this great guy, I'm a mother of 5 and gramma to 1 and 1/4.  We have a son and four daughters.  Our oldest daughter has a 15 month old beautiful, spunky, ever ready bunny, little girl and another baby on the way.

I never really knew blogs existed before my daughter was pregnant.  She was looking for nursery ideas and found some great inspiration on blogs.  She and I were instantly hooked.  We started reading and following different types of blogs and then decided to start our own.

At first we wrote together, but then Brittny started her own blog, so this one is all me now.  Most of the blogs I follow are written by young moms.  My kids are teenagers and adults now.  I thought it might be fun to share life with older kids and maybe impart some parenthood lessons I've learned along the way.   I am still trying to capture the special moments in every day life, it just looks different from when my kids were small.  I wish blogging had been around back then.  I would have loved to document our life this way and connect with other like minded folks.

I love to share crafting, sewing, cooking and family times on my blog.   I also like to sharing God's love with others even in the smallest ways such as sewing and crafting for others. See some of my "Craftivism Day" posts.

Well, it was nice to meet you, hope you come back soon and don't be shy, leave me a note, let's have some coffee and chat.

xoxo,

Carol

Doris Day with a 9mil.

Sooooo....

We went on a houseboat trip on Lake Shasta with a few friends.  We were told not to show up without a wig, speedo, mustache or crazy hat.  Luckily, no one opted for the speedo.

We had a blast!  The guys loved the wigs and wore them all weekend.  We played, we ate, we swam, we shot guns, we golfed, we slept under the stars.  All while on the houseboat.

Our amazing friends from The Mermaid Ranch hosted us.  They are generous, loving and crazy hosts.  Thank you Asbe's.

It's a good thing I am not a brunette.

xoxo,

Carol

capitola

We spent the weekend in Capitola. Sometimes I like to daydream about the kind of lifestyle I would have if I lived in a beach community. It is so laid back. How could your life not be slower if part of your everyday life is spent in the sand and ocean?

We talked about how fun it would be to have a vacation home on the beach.
Then we talked about a vacation home in the mountains.
It would be hard to choose.

Then Tom said, let's get one of each and get rid of the one in the middle.
Genius!

Hope you have a great week.

Carol

46

Today is my birthday.
I am 46 years old today.
I am incredibly greatful.
I have a great life and I couldn't ask for anything more.

I had a great realization today.  My mom is 20 years older than me.  I have 20 years of life to live before I am my moms age.  To put this in perspective, I thought about my life 20 years ago.  I was a young mom, trying to raise two kids, working, going to college and trying to grow up myself.  I have done a lot of living in the last 20 years.  I am a different person.  I can't imagine what my next 20 years will look like, but I know I will have a lot of life to live.

I can't wait to live it!

Carol
